How it works, step by step

When you click a "Check price on Amazon" link on KitchenAudit and buy something, Amazon's program records that the click came from us. If that click turns into a qualifying purchase within their tracking window, we earn a commission — typically a small percentage of the sale price. For kitchen items, that percentage is around 4.5%. On a $90 air fryer, that's roughly four dollars.

The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your wallet: you pay the same price you'd pay clicking through from anywhere else.

What it doesn't do

  • It never affects our picks. The Ninja AF101 is our Best Overall because of sixty thousand owner reviews and a ceramic basket that lasts — not because its commission is a few cents more or less than anyone else's.
  • It never affects our scores. KitchenAudit scores (assigned after hands-on testing) are measured against our published protocol, and the payout doesn't enter the kitchen.
  • It never buys a ranking. No manufacturer can pay for placement, a badge, or a kinder verdict. There is no price at which a pick is for sale.

Why we over-disclose

Because review publications that hide their funding make people stop trusting review publications — and we need your trust more than we need your clicks. So: every money page (roundups, reviews) carries the disclosure notice at the top, every price link carries the microcopy "We may earn a commission — it never affects our picks," and this page exists to spell out the mechanics in plain English. If you ever feel a recommendation is serving the commission instead of you, tell us — that's a corrections-grade failure.

The rest of our funding

Right now, affiliate commissions are the whole of it. There's no display advertising on review pages, no sponsored content, no "brand partnerships," and no selling of data — we barely collect any (see our privacy policy). If that ever changes, this page changes first, loudly.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. KitchenAudit is a Kimia Labs publication.
